Decibel Pro ("the app", "we") is a sound level meter and noise dosimeter for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what the app uses, what stays on your device, and what leaves it.

In short: there is no account, no advertising and no tracking. Your audio, measurements, photos, videos and Apple Health data stay on your device. The only data that leaves your device without you sharing it is anonymous usage and crash data, and you can turn that off in Settings.

Microphone

The app uses the microphone to measure sound levels. The sound is analyzed on your device and is never uploaded.

Apple Health

Apple Health access is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time.

Data from Apple Health is used only to provide these features inside the app. It is never sent to our servers or to any third party, never used for advertising or marketing, and never stored in iCloud by the app. Data already written to Apple Health stays there until you remove it in the Health app.

Camera and Photos

The camera is used only when you take photos or videos with the sound level stamped on them. Your photos and videos are saved in the app on your device and, if you choose, to your photo library. The app only adds to your photo library; it does not read it.

Location (optional)

If you turn on Settings → "Add Location to Measurements", the app attaches an approximate place name (for example, a neighborhood or city) to measurements you save. Your approximate position (to about 100 m) is sent to Apple's geocoding service to look up the place name. Only the place name is stored, on your device. You can turn this off and remove saved place names in Settings.

Notifications

Loud noise alerts, dose alerts and the weekly summary are created on your device. To be able to receive notifications, the app registers your device with Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging, which assigns a random device token. This token does not identify you.
